Growing old has been the greatest surprise of my life,” says Billy Graham, known by many as God’s Ambassador. “I would have never guessed what God had in store for me, and I know that as I am nearing home, He will not forsake me the last mile of the way.”
In Nearing Home, Graham reflects on his years of ministry and how God uses us even in our older years. When I began reading this book, I expected a book geared toward those advanced in years but what I encountered was a book ripe with timeless examples of how to live a life of faith.
I had the opportunity to hear Graham when he held a crusade in Louisville, KY in 2001. Reading this book is like sitting across the kitchen table with Mr. Graham and having him share his life experiences with you. While I am still relatively young, reading this book has reminded me of how God prepares us through the experiences in our lives to be of services to Him even in our "golden years."
Regardless of your stage in life, I recommend this book highly. This is a very "simple" book in that Graham's communication style is very open and straightforward. Graham shares not only how to live, but most importantly how to die.
