This is my fourth encounter with the Kregel Exegetical Library's Old Testament commentary set.  This is Allen Ross’ third volume in the Psalms series/This commentary was designed with the pastor/teacher in mind.  Ross approaches the biblical text by analyzing the Hebrew text on a clause-by-clause basis.  Each section is generously footnoted and Ross provides commentary as a Christian theologian viewing the passage through the lens of the New Testament,

Differing from the other books in this series, one needs to refer to volume one of the Psalms to read the introductory material.

Each chapter follows a set structure:

Composition and Context
Exegetical Analysis
Commentary in Expository Form
Message and Application
With this work, Ross has written over 3,000 pages of commentary. Ross stays true to his goal of providing a solid exegetical commentary.

As with any commentary, one should approach the biblical text independently and only refer to commentaries after first struggling with the text.  This is an excellent commentary to add to your arsenal.   I look forward to exploring other titles in this series.
